Obituary for Kristjan Kristjanson

Kristjan Kristjanson
Peacefully, with his brother by his side, our Uncle Kris passed away at the Arborg Personal Care Home on August 10th.
He is survived by his brothers Magnus and Rowland (Kristin) and sister-in-law Josephine, as well as his nieces and nephews: Douglas (Lee) Rogers, Ingrid (Neil) Stevenson, Ardith (Barrie) Sigurdson, Darren (Kathy) Kristjanson, Darlene (Norman) Barylski, Wesley (Sheila) Kristjanson and Ross Kristjanson, and extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents Thorsteinn and Sigridur Kristjansson; brother Ingvar; sisters Lara and Johanna Gudbjorg (Erick Rogers); half sisters Inga, Beatrice, Ingveldur, Gudfinna and Irene.
Kristjan was born on the farm in Vidir. He spent most of his life with his brothers, farming and working in the Kristjanson Brothers gravel and concrete business. He was very hard working, but didn’t hesitate to assist when someone needed his help. He enjoyed the challenge of fixing things. He was the businessman of the family, doing all of the accounting for the farm and the gravel business. He always kept up with current events. Even if they weren’t put in to practice, he enjoyed reading up on new trends in agriculture. He was always happy when people stopped in to visit, and was generous with his time. He was a big gentle man with a good sense of humour, usually ready to laugh at himself. He was a private man. He was articulate, polite and honest. He lived his life with integrity.
It was a hard transition to leave the farm to move to Arborg, when he and Magnus were no longer able to live independently. They received excellent care at Assisted Living and the Arborg PCH from the wonderful staff. However, he never stopped missing the farm.
The last years were sad for all us as dementia gradually took over. It was especially hard for Magnus; he’s left with a heavy heart now that Kris is gone. They shared a very special bond and spent their lives working together.
The family is grateful for the caring staff at both Assisted Living and the Arborg Personal Care Home. A private family funeral will be held at a later date. Internment at Vidir Cemetery.

Father,
Free me from these walls
Which imprison my mind
Bring me from this place
Into your arms and good grace
Grant me wings to fly
Unto the sky with angels
That from this horrid forgetfulness
I may emerge in Heaven.
Enter through the pearly gates
Stand by your side with
All who I ever loved.
And be no more this broken shell
Where my masters are they who
Know You nor me not. Amen
