With family by his side it is with deep sadness the family of Nick Zolub announce his passing away on April 17, 2016 at the Arborg Personal Care Home. He leaves to mourn his passing his daughter Debbie and son in law Wesley Sigvaldason of Duncan, BC., two grandsons Ian Sigvaldason of Salt Spring Island, BC., Dustin Sigvaldason of Winnipeg, MB., great granddaughters Shae and Kamryn of Winnipeg and great grandson Ari of Salt Spring Island also his sister Kay Sewell of Ladysmith, BC and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Mary and Dmytro, his beloved wife Mildred, his sisters Vasilena, Rose, Carrie and brothers Walter and Ben.
Nick was born on the family farm in Jaroslaw and maintained a love for the farm throughout his life. He was a hard worker both on the farm and in other endeavors. He worked as a lumberjack/logger in Northwestern Ontario in his younger years, farmed the homestead as well in Manitoba and retired from his final position as a heavy duty equipment mechanic with Abitibi Price Co. In 1984.
He met his wife Mildred while in Ontario and they were married in 1952. They worked together in Ontario after they were married and then built a home at the original homestead in Manitoba.
Up until his health deteriorated, he lived independently on the farm at which time he moved into the Arborg Assisted Living Home in the summer of 2008. He then moved into the Arborg Personal Care Home in January 2009.
The Farm was always a gathering place for friends, family and many a Friday night was spent playing cards or just visiting around the kitchen table. He loved to show everyone the latest thing he had learned on the organ, guitar, or dulcimer.
Going to the "Farm" was always an adventure waiting to happen for the grandchildren and they have stored up many good memories of their beloved "Pappy".
As one of Jehovah Witnesses his life long strong faith in his God Jehovah and his determination to serve him faithfully never wavered. His belief in the resurrection hope gave him a positive outlook for the future where he will see his loved ones again.
Nick truly appreciated all of the staff who took care of him at the Arborg Personal Care Home. The family would like to Thank each and every one of them for their care, compassion and concern.
Thank you too, to all the friends who came to visit him.
His spiritual family of brothers and sisters were very important to him and he always enjoyed their visits.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses - 279 St. Phillips Drive, Arborg, MB at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 21, 2016.
