Obituary for Rodger Holmes

Rodger  Holmes
Rodger passed away peacefully at HSC in Winnipeg with family by his side.
He leaves to mourn after 61 years of marriage his loving wife Caroline (Care) and cherished blended family; son Gary (Brigitte), Justin, Alicia (Jordan), Ayden & Olivia, Brigitte’s family Janessa (Chris), Harper, Cassie, Mason; Son Gord (Sandi), Michael, Samantha; Sister-in-law, Alice, Betty (Ken); Mother-in-law Dorothy Lewer and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents Ken & Helen, brothers Ed(Lena), Ray(Gladys), Earl(Myra), Kenny, Glenn and his sister Gladys (Mart).
Rodger was born in Sioux Lookout, ON and lived in Alcona for 15 years.
He worked for the CPR in Schreiber ON and at River Oaks Service Station in WPG. He retired with Winnipeg City Transit after 33 years of dedicated service.
Family friends and neighbors were important to him. He was very proud of his sons and grandchildren and spent many hours enjoying activities with them. His hobbies and interests included watching and playing golf, curling, gardening, walking, tinkering, animals, Sudoku, Jeopardy, music and traveling, most recently to Arizona.
He was proud to be United and spent many hours helping in local churches, Presbytery and Conference. His beautiful tenor voice was heard in choir, cantata, weddings and funerals. He enjoyed his music ministry at Lions and Rosewood P.C.H. in Stonewall with Care.
A special thank you to Phoenix Abrazo Centre and HSC.
Cremation has taken place with interment at a later date. A celebration of life was held at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall, 433 Main St. on Wednesday, May 23, at 11:00 a.m.
