Obituary for Jeanette Rosalie Chartrand

Jeanette Rosalie Chartrand
On Monday, March 19, 2018 Jeanette Chartrand passed away peacefully, at Actionmarguerite St. Boniface, at the age of 86 years with her family by her side. She is predeceased by her parents Toussaint and Rosalie, brothers Joe, Herve, Victor, Jim, Romeo, Leon, Marc and Jean; sisters Lil, Alma, Elizabeth and Therese. Left to treasure her memory is her husband Donat, children, Marc (Therese) of St. Laurent, MB, Huguette Chartrand of Winnipeg, MB and Lea (Allan) Gaudry of St. Laurent, MB. Her grandchildren Tanya (Jody), Jean Claude (Jane) of St. Laurent, MB, Crystal (Brad) and Courtney (Trevor) of Winnipeg her great-grandchildren Taylor, Ian, Anaka, Beau and Sadie. Sister in-law Paulette Guiboche as well as sisters-in-law Berth, Yolande, Denise, Donna, Rita, Patsy (Raymond) brother-in-law Alfred (Therese) and numerous nieces, nephews.
Jeanette was born and lived in St. Laurent, MB until 2017, which was only made possible because of the excellent services provided at St. Laurent Assisted Living Centre (2012-2017). She married her husband Donat on June 2nd, 1951 and was a full time Mom until June 1st, 1967 when together with her husband they took over one of the local general stores and operated it as Chartrand’s Grocery for 32 years. Mom and Dad retired on August 15th 1999 after the business was sold.
Mom had a strong faith and believed in prayer. Her daily prayers included not only her family but anyone else in her circle of friends or in the community that she was aware was going through some difficult times. She believed that if you put it in god’s hands that things would work out the way they were meant to. To simply have faith was her motto.
Mom’s greatest joy was to receive company, especially her children, grand-children and great grand -children and if she knew your favorite dish she was sure to whip it up before you arrived. She loved birthdays and Christmas and her mission was always to get you that perfect gift. Her success rate in that department was amazing. We will miss this and everything else that was special about her.
Our family would like to thank all the staff who cared for Mom at the St. Laurent Assisted Living Center for the five year she stayed there prior to her move to the PCH. Keeping her in her own community as long as possible would not have been possible without the Centre and its staff. Thanks to the staff at Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall, MB. And finally, thank you to the 3DE staff at Actionmarguerite St. Boniface, in particular nurses Estelle and Marie for taking such wonderful care of our Mom in the short time that she was there. Your professionalism and compassion was truly beyond our expectation and so much appreciated.
Prayers at 1:30pm, Mass at 2pm followed by internment will be held at St. Laurent, MB Catholic church, on Saturday, March 24th, 2018 with Fr. Paul Tinguely officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
