Obituary for Bricey Lauren Johnson

Bricey Lauren Johnson
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the sudden passing of Bricey Lauren Johnson on March 28, 2017. Bricey was born at Teulon Hospital on November 12, 1990 to Lois Fridfinnson and Darrell (Sam) Johnson. She also leaves to mourn her older brother, Keith Poleschuk (Sheryl) and nieces Emma, Laura and Hannah, her younger brother Dylan Johnson, stepmother, Carla, and her grandma, Evelyn Johnson. Bricey was predeceased by her dear brother, Michael, her grandpa, Eigill Johnson, and her Amma and Afi, Lillian and Kjartan Fridfinnson. She leaves to mourn numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Bricey grew up in the Arborg area. She enjoyed her childhood on the farm in Geysir, and later in the town of Arborg. During her early years, she loved to go camping with the family at Hnausa and Steeprock. Two special trips were to Disney World and a Caribbean cruise with Maureen and Craig. She developed a love for animals and spent hours playing with her bunnies and cats. Her cats meant everything to her, and they went where she went when she grew up. Bricey liked to try new things, and enjoyed taking part in soccer, skating, karate, and Ukranian dancing over the years. She was creative and artistic. She loved to work independently; her favorite job was delivery and setting up of floral arrangements for events. Like her family, Bricey was musically talented, and with her cousin, Derek, she recorded one of Michael’s songs after his passing. Bricey had a great sense of humour and fun, and people enjoyed her company. As a girl, she loved to goof around and giggle like crazy with her childhood friends. She had a beautiful smile that attracted people to her.

Bricey graduated from the Selkirk Comprehensive School in 2008 with the help of her Aunty Dianne and family, and her tutor, Sharon Bresoline. She moved to Halifax to pursue a college course in counselling. She returned to Winnipeg in 2010 and later moved to Selkirk, where she resided with her partner, Rodney Freeman and his mother, Ellen. Over the past few years, Bricey struggled with health and personal issues. Now her fight is over and she has joined her brother, Michael, in paradise, where they can be free to sing and laugh together once again.

In following with the family’s wishes, there will be no service. A private family burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bruce Oake Memorial Foundation P.O. Box 61084 Grant Park, Winnipeg, MB R3M 3K8 or online at bruceoakerecoverycentre.ca
