Obituary for Irene Alice Helen Emms

Irene Alice Helen Emms
“To the world you may be one person, to one person you are the world”

Surrounded by love, Irene Emms (Podiuk) left us February 2, 2017 at the age of 77. She will be forever missed by her girls Gerrey (Kelvin), Genni (Perry), & Carol. Her Boys Ken (Elaine), Karl (Gail), & Gary Hubbard. Her treasures, her grandchildren, Codey (Kendra), Morgan (Morgan), Keely, Kylee, Kirsten (Andrew), Keith, Kristy (Patrick), Dan (Wanda), Gillian (Reg), Kelvin (Carlene), Tara, Marlene (Rick). Her great grandchildren Emilee, Dez, Enna, Bryson, Carter, Eric, Sage, Danaka, Cassidy, Josh, Hailee, & Oksana.

She was preceded by her parents Antonina & Dmytro Podiuk, and her older sisters Severene and Doris. Mom’s life was her children and grandchildren. She was a Grandma & Nan to many, not only her own. She worked hard on the farm, and later seeked employment at Promo Wear, King Buck Inn & retired from Riverdale Place Homes. She raised her children on her parent’s homestead in Poplarfield, creating many lifetime friendships and memories. In her later years she continued to form close relationships in Arborg. The coffee pot was always on and the fridge was always full in her sunflower kitchen. Her Ukrainian heritage and traditions were very important to her. She was actively involved in the Youth Ukrainian Choir in both Poplarfield & Arborg. She passed this love of culture down to her children & grandchildren. You could see the pride on her face when they would sing and dance in Ukrainian.

Your greatest gift to us was your unconditional love. The only thing you did not teach us was how to live without you. “We love you so much, you’re the best in the whole world!”

Thank you to everyone who helped to care for Mom in the last year. Pastor Gary Schenk officiating. Mackenzie Funeral Home in care of arrangements. A private family service will be held on February 10th, 2017. A graveside service will be held at a later date.

Vivhnaya Pamyat. God bless you.
