Life Story for James Edward William "Jim" Newman

James Edward William "Jim" Newman
Suddenly, on December 20,2016, after a brief illness, Jim Newman of Stonewall, MB passed away at the Health Sciences Center at the age of 63. Jim was born in Winnipeg on March 18, 1953. He went to school in Winnipeg and in The Pas and then went on to further his education at Assiniboine College in Brandon, where he was trained as a mechanic. While in The Pas he worked for CN Rail and Manfor and it was also there that he met his future wife Beverley. They were married in 1974 in Swan River and shortly after that they moved to Stonewall. Jim and his father Edward went into the trucking business together as Newman & Son which developed in the later years to become a landscaping and snow removal business. After a short illness, Bev passed away in 2000 and this was a great loss to the family. Jim enjoyed his landscaping company as it gave him a chance to meet new people and stay active. You could always see him having coffee and talking to somebody on the rock ledge overlooking his property. During Jim’s last few years he enjoyed spending time with his grandson Asher, friend Kelly and faithful dog Blue.
Jim will be remembered by his son Michael Newman (Allison Kennedy) of Winnipeg, sisters Shirley (Don) Clark of The Pas, Kathy (Chris) Dickens of Winnipeg, Diane Lowe of Calgary, brother David (Helga) Newman of Calgary, grandson Asher, nieces and nephews, and many friends. Jim was predeceased by his wife Beverley and parents Edward and Rose-Ann Newman (nee Klatt)
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall to honor Jim’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to charity of choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
