It allows family and friends a place to re-visit, interact with each other, share and enhance this tribute for future generations. Obituary for John Kosie

Peacefully, on December 22, 2016, John Kosie passed away at the Arborg Personal Care Home at the age of 93 years after a long and full life.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jean of 68 years, son Ken (Jeanette); daughter-in-law Nancy and grandchildren, Brent (Nicole), Rachelle (Chad), Laurie (Ashley) and Erik (Jessica) and great grandchildren Caidyn, Jaxson, Carsen and Camielle as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his parents, Michael Kosie and Fedora Sawka, son Barrie, three sisters Olga, Jean, and Stella and five brothers Walter, Peter, Stanley, Steve and Billy.
John was born in Fisher Branch, MB on February 1st, 1923. John enlisted into the Army on June 13th, 1941 and proudly served his country overseas in the Second World War.
After returning to Canada, John took a job as a mail clerk with Canada Post in Winnipeg. Not long after, John met his future wife, Jean. In 1948, John and Jean were married and moved to Morweena, MB where they started farming. A few years later, they moved to Fisher Branch where they continued farming. In 1965, in search of new pursuits, they bought The Coffee Corner restaurant in Arborg which became a popular meeting place in town. In 1988, John and Jean sold the restaurant and retired to an acreage in Silver, MB. John took great pride in maintaining the yard and planting a large garden.
John had a true passion for the outdoors and loved fishing, hunting, berry and mushroom picking. John also enjoyed going to Ken's farm and would always help out there wherever he could.
We will always cherish and remember John as the genuine, gentle soul that he was. He was a kind man with a quiet manner about himself.
The family would like to thank Dr. Donnelly and staff at the Arborg and District Health Center, House of Hope and the Arborg Personal Care Home for the excellent care given to John.
A celebration of John’s life will take place on Friday, December 30th,2016 at 1:30pm at the St. Philips Roman Catholic Church on Gislason Drive in Arborg, MB. Reception to follow at Arborg Community Hall.
