Obituary for Victoria Guenther

Victoria Eva Guenther
1930 – 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Victoria (Vicky) Eva Guenther on Tuesday on March 8, 2022, at Rosewood Personal Care Home in Stonewall Manitoba, at the age of 91.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter Bev (Forbes) Stewart and son Jim (Kara); her grandchildren Dan (Shannon) Stewart, Daryl (Eric) Cowan, Baron (Ashley), Chris (Courtney), Amber Slater and David Slater; her great- grandchildren Emma, Kaden, Tessa, Alexis, Dawson, Nicholas and Emily; brothers Wilfred (Eileen) and Ron (Donna); sisters Isobel (Les) and Laverne (Norm); her sisters in law Sophie, Loretta (Len), and Olga and her many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Alfred, her daughter June and her great grandchildren Zach and Claire, brothers Willie, Ralph and Jack and sisters Edith and Mary and Vicky’s dear friend Stan.
Vicky was born in the Grayson District in Sask. to Mary and Joe Ludwar on November 15, 1930. She married Alfred (Alf) Guenther on November 19, 1948. They lived in Melville Sask. until Alf’s retirement from the C.N.R. and then moved to Oyster River, BC. After Alf’s passing, she moved to Selkirk, MB and eventually settled in Stonewall, MB.

As Vicky enjoyed working with people, she was involved in food services or the retail business. She enjoyed wine making the old-fashioned way, computers, sewing, recipes, travelling, her Tops group, Red Hatters, dancing and with much practice and determination represented Manitoba in the 5-pin Bowling Nationals in Ontario in the late 1990’s. Mom made the best cabbage rolls in the world and was a wonderful hostess. She was a strong, determined woman who set a wonderful example for her family. We will miss her so much; words cannot express our profound loss.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be determined at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please direct any donations to Rosewood Lodge PCH, 513 -1st Ave North, Stonewall, MB R0C 2Z0.
Rest In Peace Mom Love You More
