Obituary for Thomas John Peleshaty

THOMAS (TOM) JOHN PELESHATY
August 10, 1955 – October 4, 2021

We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Tom Peleshaty on October 4, 2021 in Wasagaming, Manitoba at the age of 66.

Tom will be lovingly remembered by his mother Anne; his wife Roseline; his children Adam, Lisa (Tony) and Stephen; his granddaughters Blake and Jordyn; his siblings Dan (Ritma), Roseanne (Royden), David (Mary-Anne) and Bonnie (Dany); as well as his many nephews, nieces, in-laws, cousins and friends. Tom was predeceased by his father John.

Tom was born at Stonewall Hospital on August 10, 1955, was raised at the family farm and nearly lived his entire life in the Stonewall area. He attended Edward E. Best School across from home as well as Stonewall Centennial School before graduating from Stonewall Collegiate Institute in 1973. Soon after he graduated, Tom was hired at Federated Co-op where he spent 41 years working inside its Winnipeg warehouse before beginning his well-deserved retirement.

Tom married the love of his life Roseline in 1987 and spent 34 wonderful years together, which included trips to the Caribbean, Las Vegas, Montreal and Paris. Along with their three kids, the family made yearly trips to Elkhorn Resort near Wasagaming. At home, he would either do yard work, barbecue, play games with his kids and grandkids, or watch sports on TV. Other times, Tom would either lend a helping hand to his mother and siblings or spend some time with his buddies at The Rock.

He made many friends through the game of hockey, starting as a boy playing goal in the Highway 6 & 7 minor hockey league. As he grew up, Tom later played junior hockey in St. Eustache as well as at the senior level in Stonewall before becoming a netminder for Oldtimers teams in Stonewall, Stony Mountain and Balmoral. One of his biggest wins was backstopping Stonewall to the Lady Luck Cup championship in Vegas and would later visit the city again a number of times with his longtime friend Brent Morrison.

Tom also coached Lisa’s softball teams to medals at provincials and was a big fan of both the Winnipeg Jets and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the latter of which he had season tickets with Adam. Tom was also an avid golfer, hitting the links with his friends as well as Stephen at courses across the Interlake.

Whenever Tom was in Stonewall on an errand, chances were someone would say hello.

Cremation has taken place, as well as a private memorial service at Mackenzie Funeral Home in Stonewall.

It was beautiful
As long as it lasted,
The journey of my life”
