Stanley David Bonkowski
Nov.22,1929-Nov.8,2021
We are deeply heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Great Great Grandfather. On August. 1, he had a stroke and ended up in Gimli Hospital and from there he was transferred to Arborg Hospital where he spent his final days. He is survived by his children Bridget Ross, Glynis Buchanan (Douglas) , Bradley, Todd (Kimberly), Garvis (Jennifer), also his 17 Grandchildren and 24 Great and 3 Great Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Fjola Bonkowski & his son-in-law Randy Ross.
During his lifetime he tried many different jobs, but his greatest passion was farming. In the 1950s he moved to the family homestead with his father Dominik Bonkowski where they established roots. He started off farming with a few pigs and cows and later started raising turkeys. It was during this time he met the love of his life Fjola and together they fulfilled their dream. Life was not easy, but they never gave up.
Father was an avid gardener and was there right until he had his stroke. Everything he did was done to perfection. We all admired his bed making skills. He was an avid reader; he was also a man of few words but what he had to say was well thought out. Once he told us he was going to retire and that very winter him & Mom went to Texas for the winter. They continued to go every winter for 10 years where their home was known as the Canadian Embassy. Upon returning home they kept busy on the homestead.
The family would like to thank Dr. Donnelly and his wonderful staff at the Arborg and district hospital for the excellent care our father received. We are all going to miss coffee-time and family chats around the table, you have taught us many things and instilled your hard-working skills in us. It gives us comfort knowing Mom & Father are reunited again. We love you Father. RIP until we meet again.
His pallbearers are his Grandsons-Cameron, Michael, Wyatt, Blayze, Jagger & Onyx. Honorary pallbearers are his Granddaughters, Great Grandchildren & his Great Great Grandchildren.
