Obituary for Rose Cecile Brennan

Rose Cecile Brennan (Lesko)

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Rose Cecile Brennan (Lesko), on December 5, 2022.

Leaving to cherish her memory are her children; Marjorie (Murray) Horobin, Raymond (Caroline), Beatrice (Ron) Kurlowich, John (Sandy), Robert (Bonnie); daughter-in-law Elsie; her grandchildren: Kevin (Katie), Ryan (Janine); Zachary, Breeann; Colleen (David), Cathie (Bob), Ron Jr. (Kerri), Kyle (Melanie); Eric (Tanya), Krystal; Glenn (Leighsha), Haley (Travis); Derek (Tina), Darren (Morgan); and Great-grandchildren: Trenton; Anabella; Julian; Maksym; Katja, Nikolai, Aleksander, Oskar; Kaydan; Annie; Desyre, Bradon, Lucas; Wyatt, Lex, Jayce; her sisters Mary and Annie; sisters-in-law Mildred, Shirley (Norman), Frances, Mary; many nieces and nephews; and her life-long friends Bev & Scotty, as well as many other close friends.
Mom always enjoyed visits from family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Pat; her sons, Glen, Ernie, Brian, Ken; and her brothers Nick and Peter.

Mom was born at home in Stony Mountain October 7, 1932, where she lived until 1940 when they moved to a farm NE of Stonewall. She went to Stony Mountain School to Grade 4, Victoria School to Grade 8 and Stonewall Collegiate for Grade 9. Before marriage, Mom worked in a sewing factory for one summer and on her parents’ farm.

Mom met Dad while working in her parents’ field and Dad travelled this road to go between his farm and his parents’ farm. They were married October 17, 1953, and spent the rest of her life on the farm outside Balmoral.

Early farming was dairy cattle, pigs and horses. Later farming was grain with a few dairy cattle (shipping cream), pigs and chickens for our own use and we housed horses for other people for a few years. By the early 70’s, the dairy cattle were gradually replaced with beef cattle, and the pigs and horses were gone. Eventually, the only animals remaining were cats and dogs.

Mom’s ventured into the employment world in 1976, when she started working for Promoware (in Teulon) and later for Northern Goose (in Teulon) until 1992, when she joined the retirement team but still worked a few fall seasons at Riddell’s.

A Funeral Service was held on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the MacKenzie’s Funeral Chapel in Stonewall, Manitoba.

In lieu of flowers, if family and friends so desire, donations in her memory may be made to your favourite charity.
