Obituary for Pauline Zuk
Peacefully at her residence in Arborg, MB. Pauline passed away at the age of 96.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Denis (Lawrie), David (Valerie), Robert (late Mary), Patricia (Bill). She was blessed with 10 grandchildren Karla, (Kevin), Krista (Scott), Bradley (Robin), Jason (Theresa), Kelly (Roland), Kevin (Michelle), Kyle (Ashley), Nicole (Jim), April (Jason), Susan (Mike). She had 16 greatgrandchildren, Paige, Cailee, Kaitlynn, Claire, Garrett, Sawyer, Gavin, Ryder, Petra, Dane, Kara, Kason, Auriana, Ella, Erika, Sadie.
Pauline was born on the family farm in Hamrlik, MB, to Mike and Mary Swedlo. She was one of 10 siblings. Pauline is the last to leave us.
On November 4, 1943, Pauline married Fred, together they farmed in the Poplarfield area and raised their family. Pauline had a very strong work ethic, she worked alongside her husband at all farm duties as well as being a busy mother. She grew a huge garden filled with vegetables. Pauline shared this bounty with many, and her specialty was garlic which many came to get. She also had beautiful flower gardens which she loved, they were her pride and joy. She loved all aspects of nature and planted many trees over the years just to watch them grow. Pauline was a superb cook and always had huge bountiful, homegrown meals, everyone went home with the extras. She had a very generous heart. She was an avid knitter, crocheter, making mitts, socks, blankets and a variety of other items.
Pauline was predeceased by Fred in 1997. She now began her journey in life without her husband by her side. In 2005 Pauline left the farm and moved to the Sunrise lodge in Arborg. Here she made new friends and continued to pursue her hobbies. She joined the craft program which she enjoyed. She made many blankets for her family and friends. She also donated many to CancerCare. She enjoyed keeping busy with these projects. She lived to work and was happiest when there was work to do.
Rest in peace Baba. Gone but never forgotten and as she would say time to go home no more to roam.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Donnelly for his timely visits to her suite, his help was much appreciated. To the many homecare workers that helped her and made it possible for her to continue living at the lodge for as long as she did. We wish to thank each and every one of you. Pauline loved them all and they also came to know her as the strong and independent woman that she was.
In keeping with Pauline’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date.
