Obituary for Muriel Emily Boyer

Muriel Emily Boyer (Gardner)
March 25 1923 – February 28 2022

On the evening of February 28, just 25 days before her 99th Birthday, our Matriarch and shining star rejoined her beloved Husband Albert (Chubby) and cherished Grandson Ethan Boyer.

Muriel was born on Palm Sunday in Ninette Mb to Matilda and Christopher Gardner, the eldest girl of a family of nine. In 1928 the family moved to Stonewall. After graduating High School, Mom was a phone operator in Stonewall.

Muriel married Chubby Boyer on Saturday July 17 1948. They moved to Winnipeg, where she worked at The Bay until her children, Jack (John) and Jeanette were born. In 1957 they moved back to Stonewall to be with Matilda (Nanny) Gardner. Their son, Dana, was born in 1963. In 1967 our Family moved to our own house on 2nd Street West in Stonewall.

Mom enjoyed knitting and sewed many outfits. She was also a 4H Leader. Mom and Dad managed the local bowling alley for years and helped organize the Youth Bowling League and a bowling league for students with special abilities.

Muriel was baptized, confirmed and married at the Stonewall Anglican Church where she had attended Sunday School with her siblings. Later on , She enjoyed helping at Church Teas and teaching Sunday School.
Mom was an integral member for the Stonewall Legion Branch 52 Ladies Auxiliary for 62 years. She served as Secretary Treasurer for 30 years and became a Life Member in 1986 . Mom was very of proud of Dad’s passion to aid and assist veterans and to help the community, where he served at various levels of the Legion Command. Mom and Dad travelled across Canada to various functions where they met numerous people who became lifelong friends. They also travelled for years to the Legion Sports Complex at the International Peace Gardens. Along with other Veterans and families, they assisted with many projects so that many students could enjoy the summer Legion Camps. Mom and Dad were both made Life Members of the International Peace Gardens.

Love of family and friends was first and foremost in Mom’s life, beginning with her very close relationships with her Mother and siblings. The “Boyer Clan” was no different and we were all blessed to be continually surrounded by amazing Aunts, Uncles and Cousins, celebrating with love, laughter, music and singing.
After almost 50 years of a loving marriage, Dad passed away April 18 1998. Mom carried on with her deep and strong faith, determined to be the strength of the family. She moved in Lions Manor in 2006, where her three sisters also resided and enjoyed making memories for the remainder of her life.

Mom constantly adored and supported her precious grandchildren, attending games, services and various events. Her Grandchildren, in turn, enjoyed her quiet wisdom and her loving, patient ways. They experienced many years of her unconditional Love and countless hugs, especially her chocolate chip cookies. Mom was very happy to expand the family and welcomed with open arms her four great grandchildren whom she loved very dearly. When Ethan left us October 25 2019, Grandma was heart broken yet continued to be a pillar of strength and faith to help the entire family.

Survived by children Jack (Carol), Jeanette (Barry) Sheasgreen and Dana (Sue). Grandchildren Scott Sheasgreen, Garrett (Katarina) Sheasgreen, Lana (Cory) Moffatt and Reid Boyer.
