Obituary for Marie Ann Cook (Collins)

MARIE ANN COOK (nee COLLINS)
July 22, 1947 – July 5, 2020

Our protective, ever-loving mom passed away at home in the early hours of Sunday, July 5, 2020. She was at peace with dying after years of struggling with her health. Mom kept up her determined attitude towards life til the end – she was feisty and enjoyed a good shock factor in her speech. She leaves behind her angel on earth, Steven Gergatz as well as her children; Carolyn (Richard), Victoria (Bradley), Joey(Lori), and Jamie; Steve’s sons; Kurt (Lana), Kevin and Keith; grandchildren; James, Cory, Melissa, Caitlynn, Marc, Bryanne (Rylan), Brittany (James) and great grandchildren; Kyler, Jayla, Mia, Max, Andi, Kylie and Bennett.
Her brothers Gene and Todd and sister Kim. Special to mom, her Uncle Russell and Auntie Pat, who was like a sister to her. She was predeceased by her mom Anna, her dad Alex, brothers Alec Jr, Bruce, Timmy and sisters in law Louise and Diane as well as numerous aunts and uncles and close friends. She had a soft heart for animals and will be reunited by her numerous dogs, birds and rabbits that she loved.
Mom’s sense of humour is what we most fondly remember as she was always cooking up a good one to get Steve on April Fools. She also loved family gatherings, (she was the biggest kid at Christmas) and making twice the amount of food to feed everyone. She looked for the flag flying at good friends, Wally and Yvonne's campsite and enjoyed many campfires and wiener roasts with them. For a lady as scared of bears as mom, her favourite memories of Alberta were time spent in the Peter Lougheed Park in the Rocky Mountains.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Diabetes Association in your area.
Cremation has already taken place and there will be no service as per Mom’s request.
