Obituary for Margaret Rose Kohm

Margaret Rose Kohm
1938 - 2021

We are sad to announce the passing of Margaret Rose Kohm on August 30, 2021 at the Grace Hospital, 12 years to the day after her beloved and devoted husband Barney.

Born in Winnipeg, Margaret had a degree in social work, but chose to dedicate her life to family. Gatherings to celebrate birthdays and other occasions were always important. Margaret loved animals and birds, and once famously freed a squirrel that was caught in a neighbour’s trap. She loved nature in general and spoke fondly of her years with the Winnipeg Canoe Club. She always looked forward to family summer vacations at Clear Lake and hosting annual visits by her brother and family (the Brady bunch).

Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Barnet (Barney) Kohm, her oldest brother Paul Brady, and her parents, Anne and Francis Brady.

Margaret is survived by her three children Angus (Stefanie), Steven (Sandy), and Hannah Tamara (Carson); granddaughters Sharra Kohm and Misty Cardinal; her beloved cat, Baby Bibs; her brother, Peter Brady (Ann), and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In her later years, Margaret doted on her granddaughters and her cat, and continued her tradition of always having delicious homemade baking on hand, and organizing holiday meals with the Winnipeg family, including her cousin Jim. Even in her last days, Margaret could be counted on to feed the birds, squirrels and chipmunks in her yard, and to read the tea leaves left in everyone’s cup after enjoying high tea in the late afternoon. We will miss her!

At Margaret’s request there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society or a Wild Life Conservation charity of your choice (a cause close to Margaret’s heart).
