Obituary for Leonard Joseph McKay

Leonard Joseph McKay
July 3, 1958 – September 27, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leonard Joseph McKay, loving husband, Father, and Pepere.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife Hilda, sons Joseph (Londa), and Lee (Andrea), and daughter Cecilia (Maurice) and grandchildren Kayleigh, Kole, Kaydin, Cowan, Chase, Brooklyn, and Lincoln. He is also survived by his sisters Genevieve and Pierrette, and brother Tobie (Dawn), sisters-in-law Blanche, May, and Susan, brother-in-law Stan, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Leonard was predeceased by his parents Alexandre and Rose McKay, his siblings Cecile, Alfred, Cyril, Wanda, Theresa, and Brian, brothers-in-law Baptiste, Normand, Henry, and Gilbert.

Leonard was born and raised in the town of St. Laurent which is where he met his wife Hilda in 1978 and started working for CN Rail, from there he worked in construction and maintenance. In 1984 Leonard and Hilda married in St. Laurent and welcomed sons Joseph and Lee and daughter Cecilia. He grew up with a passion for hunting which he later passed on to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent a lot of his time hunting geese, ducks, rabbits, and deer. Leonard loved visiting with friends and family, joking around and was always known for his laugh.

Respecting Leonard’s wishes there will a celebration of life held at his home for his friends and family to gather and share memories. It will be held on Saturday, October 16th, 2021 from 1pm-4pm with a private burial to take place on another date.

Due to new Covid19 restrictions all people attending the celebration of life, must be doubled vaccinated and have proof.
