Obituary for Jessie Drohomereski
Jessie passed away surrounded by her family on July 31, 2019 at the age of 97 years. Our beloved Mom, Baba, and friend is survived by: her son Philip (Lois) Drohomereski and daughters Deanna (Cec) Pringle, Victoria (Peter) Midtdal, Eleanore (Randy) McMahon, son-in-law John (Donna) Pawlychyn, niece Louise (Dennis) Corrigan. Grandchildren: Shannon (Michael) Harrison, Marla (Sean) Barr, Craig (Julie) Pawlychyn, Ryan (Georgia) Drohomereski, Devin & James Midtdal, Justin, Aaron & Shaylyn McMahon, Preston, Gannon & Garrett Corrigan, and 8 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Michael (1992) and beloved daughter Janette Pawlychyn (2004).
Mom was born in the Kreuzberg Municipality (Fraserwood) in 1921 and when she married Michael Drohomereski in 1940, they eventually settled on a farm in Foley and later moved to Teulon.
Mom was above all else, devoted to her family. She was a supportive and loving mother and wife but the love and pride she felt for her grandchildren and great grandchildren was immense and limitless.
We will forever remember: her love of cooking, Sunday suppers, gardening, dancing, playing cards, travelling with her children and grandchildren, her special birthday cards with a little something tucked inside, and visiting with many family and friends. Her door was always open. She was a very strong believer in her faith and spent many hours volunteering for church activities and functions.
We are fully beholden to the tremendous staff at Holy Family Home, St. Paul’s unit, who loved, laughed with and tenderly cared for Mom during her final four years.
A funeral divine liturgy will be celebrated by Reverend Father Alan Wizinsky on Wednesday August 7th at 11 am at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 35 Marcie St, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Interment will follow at St. Stephen’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Pleasant Home, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Holy Family Home.
