Obituary for Barbara Porteous
JANET "BARBARA" (COLEMAN) PORTEOUS
It is with great sadness, that we announce that Janet "Barbara" Porteous nee Coleman, peacefully passed away at the tender age of 101, at her home on April 25th, 2023.
Barbara was born August 14th, 1921, in Derbyshire, England. At the age of four, her and her family immigrated to Canada and settled in the Petersfield Area. In 1929 the family moved to Woodlands and farmed where she met the love of her life, King William. Barbara and Bill were married on July 26, 1946 and lived and farmed in the Woodlands area until the passing of Bill in 1975 at which time she moved off the farm and settled in the village of Woodlands.
She was predeceased by her husband King William Porteous; parents George and Frances Coleman; sister and brother-in-law Rhea and Burns Porteous; brother and sister-in-law Seaton and Norma Coleman.
Barbara will be lovingly missed by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Barbara faithfully served on the Anglican Church Women (ACW) for 50 years in Woodlands. For 5 years she was a 4H Leader, which she enjoyed thoroughly.
Barbara spent countless hours making over 100 prayer shawls, slippers, and blankets for the hospital. There wasn't a flower or plant that didn't thrive under her loving care. Just last month she was curious about how her orchid plant could survive without soil and wanted to have a book explaining the orchid plant.
Auntie, you are now in God's heavenly garden.

Barbara lived a very full life loving on others!
Celebration of Life will be held on May 8, 2023, at 1:00 pm at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main Street, Stonewall, MB with a reception at the Stonewall Legion Branch 52.
