Obituary for Herbert Mardon Robinson

Herbert Mardon Robinson
1950 – 2022

On November 25, 2022, Herbert Mardon Robinson, at the age of 72 years, lost his battle with cancer at the Arborg and District hospital in the company of his wife of 51 years. He is predeceased by his father George Mardon and his mother Sigurlin Ingveldur (Paulson) Robinson. He is survived by his wife Deborah (Hill) Robinson; his children Cindy, Curtis, and Carla; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; his siblings Kristinn (Freda) Robinson, Carolyn “Ann” (Marcel) Sutyla, Gordon (Valerie) Robinson, Susan (Donald) Smith; nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.

Herbert was born and raised on a farm in the Framnes area in Arborg and loved the town so much that he never left.

He attended Framnes school until bigger and better things, along with his sense of adventure called out to him. He spent most of his boyhood hunting, fishing, trapping, and enjoying the great outdoors.
He married Deborah on August 21, 1971, and started raising their young family.

He tried his hand at a few types of jobs, but when he started work on a local mink ranch it spurred his love for the fur industry. He and Deborah took on the task of building a multi-award-winning mink and fox farm from the ground up. Throughout his years in the fur industry, he inspired many who are still in the fur business today.

His attention transitioned to cattle and grain once the fur industry started to fall, and this fostered a love for farming. He had a strange and wonderful way with animals, and it was not uncommon to find a little critter of some type needing a bit of extra TLC in the house.

Despite all the work the farm required, Herbert still managed to make time for a few hobbies on the side. Classic cars, repairing old farm machinery, ice fishing, hunting, and entertaining visitors at the kitchen table were all his favorite past-times.

Special thanks to the nursing staff at Arborg and District Hospital, family and friends that supported Herbert throughout his illness, the Melnychuk family for their caring and support throughout the years, as well as many others that have helped our family along the way.

Upon his request, Herbert would like only close friends and family to attend his service at the Silver Community Hall on December 3, 2022, at 2:00 pm.

Herbert left an impression on all he met. There was always an opinion and a story to be had. He will be forever missed and remembered.
