Obituary for Gladys Mary Stoyanowski

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the sudden passing of Gladys Stoyanowski, at the age of 100 at the Arborg Personal Care Home.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son-in-law Don Buchko, grandsons, Heath (Janice), Bret (Kara) and Waylon (Denal) as well as her precious great grandchildren, Blake, Reilly, Alyse, Beckett and Huxley as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by parents George and Eileen (nee Miller) Fanjoy; her loving husband Kazimir and daughter Eileen; brothers Charles Fanjoy, John Fanjoy and sisters Muriel Taylor and Florence Campbell.

Gladys was born in St. John, NB on August 20, 1918 with a birth weight of only a pound and a half. Her Mother's wedding ring could go up to her shoulder. It was a miracle she survived back in those days.

She met Kazimir in 1943 while he was training for the army during WWII. He was stationed in St. John, NB in the regiment known as the PEI Highlanders. They married on June 30, 1944 and after he was discharged, they moved and settled in Arborg, MB. In 1948, she became a wonderful Mother when her daughter Eileen was born.

Gladys had a passion for shopping and clothes and it showed by her years employed by Timothy Eaton. She then went on to become the co-owner of the first dry cleaners in Arborg and finally working 20 plus years at Johnson and Sons Department Store until her retirement at the age of 70.

She loved spending time with her family and dear friends. She enjoyed going for visits, playing bingo and shopping.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Arborg Personal Care Home for their care and compassion during her time there.

Special thanks to all who visited and spent time with Gladys the last few years.

Funeral service will be held at the St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church in Arborg, MB on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.
