Obituary for Georgette Cecile Marie Jones

GEORGETTE CECILE MARIE JONES

Georgette Cecile Marie Jones, beloved wife of Raymond Jones, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with family by her side.

Georgette is survived by her husband, Ray; children Michelyn (Steve) and Christian (Robyn) and grandchildren Elle and Payne, Mattea, Maryn, and Mia. She will be missed by all her brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Georgette is predeceased by her parents Donat and Yvonne Gagnon and father and mother-in-law Tom and Eileen Jones. Georgette was born in St. Anne, Manitoba on May 21, 1955 and lived in Richer for her entire childhood. Following graduation from St. Anne’s high school, Georgette moved to Winnipeg to work in the office at Modern Automotive Warehousing. There, she met the love of her life, Ray, and they were married August 24, 1974, at Precious Blood Roman Catholic Church in St. Boniface. Georgette worked at many places over the years, always dedicated and exhibiting a strong work ethic. She recently retired after working 28 years in the Credit Department at Palliser Furniture.

Through her adventures with Ray, they lived in and travelled to many places, and eventually retired in Stonewall while dividing their time at the family cottage at the Narrows. She had many talents, including sports, cooking, and gardening, and loved a good do-it-yourself project. Georgette made close friendships throughout her lifetime, but her family was her centre. Family time was important to her, and she was her children and grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader.

Georgette fought a long and hard battle to the end - her positivity, courage, and strength an inspiration.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of the doctors, nurses, and health care aids who cared for Georgette at CancerCare, the Health Sciences Centre and St. Boniface Hospital.

A private funeral service and Mass for family was held. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
