Obituary for Edward Alexander Persoage

EDWARD ALEXANDER PERSOAGE
(1935-2023)

It is with heavy hearts and deepest love that the family announces the passing of Edward Persoage of Teulon, MB. Eddy, aged 87, passed away peacefully May 20, 2023 at Goodwin Lodge with family at his side. Left to cherish his memory are his sister Alice Persoage, his daughter Kelley Persoage (Aryan) and granddaughter, Megan Farrokhi; son Michael Persoage (Sherry) and grandchildren Alex, Brianne (Brandon), Austin (Beth); daughter Lesley Philippot (Bob) and granddaughters Alexandra (Tyler) and Tianna; sister-in-law Margie and brother-in-law John Kadynuik; much-loved nieces, nephews, and cousins, and numerous friends and coffee buddies. Eddy was predeceased by the love of his life, Lois (nee Skwarek) in 2009; his parents Alex and Frances Persoage; sister Irene Persoage; niece Kim Moore; parents-in-law John and Anne Skwarek. Eddy was born in Teulon, MB and raised on the family farm in Pleasant Home until the family moved into Teulon. At a young age, he started his farming career and worked alongside his dad. Farming became a family business when he married Lois in October 1959, becoming the only farmers around who lived in town. Eddy remained active on the farm right up until the day of his stroke in 2016.

Eddy and Lois were married over 49 happy years and were very active in the Teulon community. They enjoyed spending time with friends, volunteering through Kinsmen and Kinettes, camping, taking their children on amazing adventures through the US every spring (before seeding, of course) and later on, spending time with, and spoiling their grandchildren. Eddy was a very creative person who loved design, wood carving, drawing, and carpentry. He was an extremely kind and gentle soul with a huge heart and loved to connect with others, especially over morning coffee at the local hangout. He was genuinely giving and always willing to help out a friend or neighbour, expecting nothing in return. Eddy was an amazing grandfather who had an incredibly strong bond with every one of his grandchildren and nothing made him happier than spending time with them.

A special thanks to his sister, Alice, who has stood by his side his entire life and who supported him through difficult times. The family also wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Loudon and the wonderful staff and volunteers at Teulon Hospital and Goodwin Lodge for their incredibly compassionate and outstanding care. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 11:00 am at Teulon Rockwood Centennial Centre, Shirley Williams officiating. Pallbearers will be Austin Persoage, Alex Persoage, Bob Philippot, Mike Janzen, Tyler Williams, and Brandon Barkley. All of Eddy’s friends are honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Goodwin Lodge (Box 89, Teulon MB, R0C 3B0)

Dearest Dad and Grandpa, you have left big shoes to fill, though we take comfort in knowing you are finally at peace and reunited with the love of your life. You are forever in our hearts xoxo
