Drew was born in Breckinridge, Texas and lived her early childhood years in various parts of the USA. She came to Canada as a young girl after the death of her father. This brought her to the Marbleridge area. To attain her high school education, she moved to Winnipeg graduating from Norwood Collegiate, she then worked for Dr. Fred Cadham (now known as Cadham Labs) while waiting to take her nursing. This career would be put on hold for many years as she met Evert who was in the RCAF and married him in 1942. After the war they moved to the Hodgsonville area where they raised their family. After most of her children were grown, she went to Winnipeg and pursued and achieved her lifelong dream of nursing. She nursed at St. Boniface and Winnipeg General Hospital, Gillam, Fisher Branch Medical Centre and lastly Fisher Branch Public Health.

In later years they moved to Stonewall, spending summers at Wpg Beach at their cabin. These retirement years she enjoyed a lot, learning to golf, going on trips, tending her flowers, visiting her children and grandchildren. She made many personalized quilts, pillows and blankets for them. She also was an accomplished artist, painting on buildings rocks or canvas. Her love of cake decorating during her life led to her being responsible for decorating hundreds of wedding, birthday or any special occasion cake all over MB.
During her life Drew was instrumental in starting Hodgson Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary in 1958, she was the first President. After moving to Stonewall she was President their also. She held a life membership to both the Auxiliary and Legion. Drew joined the Order of the Eastern Star, Aurora Chapter in 1953 and was a lifetime member.

Her deep faith also was an important part of her life, a faithful member of the Anglican Church in both Hodgson and Stonewall, working with the ACW all her life.

The family wishes to thank Doctor Donnelly, Arborg Home Care Aides and Nurses. Lastly a HUGE thank you to Maureen and ALL the staff at Arborg Assisted Living for their exemplary care and love to Mom for the last few years, and all the wonderful residents who made her feel at home.
