Obituary for Dorothy Theresa Hrymack
Dorothy Theresa Hrymack (nee Ashley) 1927 - 2022
We lost our dear mother, grandmother, and great grandmother on June 27, 2022, at the age of 95 years.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Alec, youngest daughter Marjorie and son in law David. Left to mourn are her daughters; Leona, Mary (Michael) and Patricia. Grandchildren; Lee (Cassie), Nicole, Meagan (Chris), Rance (Nicole), Kaylee (Jed), Matthew, Chelsey (Art) and 5 great grandchildren.
Dorothy was born in Saskatchewan, later moving to Boissevain where she enjoyed many happy years on the family farm. Following high school graduation, Mom earned her Registered Nursing degree from St. Boniface Hospital, and it was her work that took her to the small town of Alonsa where she met her future husband, Alec. She went on to build a successful career as the Director of Nursing of the McCreary Hospital and PCH, providing care to countless people in the community. Mom retired from nursing in1987, to work alongside Dad on the farm.
Together they built a name for themselves in the beef industry proudly growing the Hrymack family farm into Rocky Haven Simmentals. They finally retired in 2003, selling the farm and moving to Stonewall to be closer to their children and grandchildren. These were good years with warm memories.
Mom lived her life with high moral standards and fierce independence. She was a true feminist and always encouraged her 4 daughters to believe in themselves. Mom also instilled the value of religion and attending church, but never in pants! She remained interested in her family’s lives to the end.
Mom, we love and admire you. You will be dearly missed but we take comfort knowing you are reunited with Dad and Marj.
