Obituary for Darrell Edward Lawson

DARRELL EDWARD LAWSON
Nov. 30, 1949 - Dec. 10, 2020

Darrell lost his courageous battle with cancer peacefully with Maggie by his side.

His life was full of everything that he loved, horses, dogs and the farm. Even in his final months he told people “I love my life and I love my wife.” He enjoyed auctions and fishing with friends. He was an excellent horseman and spent his whole life working with them as a rider trainer and outrider both at Alberta and Winnipeg racetracks. He also spent many winters in Florida training and selling polo ponies. In 2000 they bought the farm in Rosser where they still have a breeding and boarding facility.

Special thanks to the family and friends who made these times easier with their support and kindness. “A true friend is a light in the dark.” Also, to Dr. Graham and Christine Skakum who made it possible to stay home for most of his illness and the staff at Stonewall Hospital for their care and kindness.

Survived by his wife Margaret (Struthers); sister Hollis (David) Roland and nephew Scott of Florida.

Predeceased by parents Edward and Beatrice (Sobkowich) and nephew Darrell Roland.

May you find peace, good horses and great fishing. You will be missed.
