Carol was born in West Central Saskatchewan. Her family moved to the Arborg area in the mid 1950’s, where she met her soon to be husband. She married Mike in 1958 making their lifelong home on the family farm. In 1970, she became the first female school bus driver in Manitoba which would become a 20-plus year driving career with the Evergreen School Division.

Carol was active in the community sitting on various committees and led the local Girl Guides, Brownies and Weight Watchers. She loved baseball, playing for the Framnes Fireballs ladies team back in the 70’s, and more recently watching her grandsons play slow pitch. She would drive the school bus for swimming lessons both during school and in summer. Through this she was able to complete her swimming levels and continued until completing her Life Saving Water Safety certificate. She was then allowed to assist with instructing swimming lessons that she carried the students to and from. Mom fell in love with curling becoming a regular at ladies and mixed square draws as well as playing in many bonspiels around the Interlake.
Mom and Dad took great pride in their garden, spending many hours tending to the weeds and plants and joking and pranking with each other.

Summers were a time that extended family would arrive at different intervals to spend their vacations with us on the farm. They were always welcome and Mom would happily host the gatherings. These always filled the house with food, laughter and music.

Mom was very close to her sisters. They would regularly get together to play cards or any game someone could think of. They were known for their silliness, laughter and high-pitched screams.

Family would like to thank Dr. Donnelly and the staff at the Arborg and District Health Centre for their outstanding care and compassion for mom during her hospital stay.

If so desired, donations in Carol’s memory can be made to a charity of your choice.
