Obituary for Bob Circolo

BOB CIRCOLO
JUNE 1948 – FEBRUARY 2021

It is with deep sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Bob Circolo on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Stonewall Hospital, Stonewall, Manitoba at the age of 72.

Bob leaves behind his beloved wife, best friend, and soulmate Rosalie, his mother Margaret, daughter-in-law Madeleine and granddaughter Finley, who was the apple of his eye, his step-son and best friend Dustin (Amanda) Haertel, daughter Dana (Shaun) Mayberry and their children, and sisters Clarita (Tony) and Shirley. He will also be dearly missed by stepdaughters Susan (James) and Petra as well as numerous step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father John in 1995 and son Tony in July 2020.

Bob was born in Kingston, ON in June 1948 and always had a grand story to tell about his escapades growing up in Churchill, MB and later in Charleswood.

After retiring from the EET Dept. of Red River College, Bob enjoyed spending time at Lake St. George with his family and extended family and pursuing his preferred sports of fishing and hunting. Bob also loved flying and was in the process of building his own plane when a medical condition halted his piloting; another favourite hobby was taking his devoted and faithful four-legged buddy Morgan, who predeceased him by 2 months, to Stonewall Tire. That was always the greatest adventure, at least to Morgan.

How do you condense a man like Bob into a few paragraphs? How do you put words to understanding the bliss on his face when he takes that first bite of the elusive perfectly cooked blue steak? How do you express the deep, underlying love always present beneath the funny banter between him and Rosalie that sounded cutting to the untrained ear? Bob enjoyed a good joke and a good laugh, even when it was played on him as evidenced by a chuckle when he awoke to makeup all over his face if he fell asleep when company was over. He was a family man who had more than enough love to offer a warm welcome to each new member of his ever-expanding family. It turns out, you can’t condense a life into mere paragraphs; you can only offer hints to the person he was. Bob was, most definitely, an unforgettable person, a loving person, a good person who will be missed.

Thank you to Dr. P.K. and the staff at Stonewall Hospital for their excellent care, and a special thank you to Julie P.

“There's a whisper on the night-wind, there's a star agleam to guide us,
And the wild is calling, calling . . . . let us go.”
― Robert W. Service

Bob, you are now free to fly on laughter silvered wings.
