BARBARA DOREEN JONES (nee GOODHAND)
MAY 5, 1931 – JANUARY 11, 2021
Barbara Doreen Jones (nee Goodhand) age 89 loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed quietly in the morning on Monday, January 11, 2021, surrounded by her children at Rosewood Lodge, Stonewall, Manitoba.
She is loved and will be sadly missed by her son Keith (Bonnie) of Calgary, granddaughter Amy (Joel) Cann, great-granddaughter Chloe and great-grandson Hunter of Calgary, grandson Matt, great-granddaughter Ava of Calgary, step grandsons Michael and Steven (Jackie) Clark of Calgary, daughter Donna (Ralph) Nespor of Stonewall, grandsons Cory (Ellen) and Brett of Calgary, granddaughters Kristy (Dan) McGregor of Oak Bluff, great-granddaughters Aribella, Skilyr and Tenley, Jodi (Brian) Davis of Stonewall and great-granddaughter Callie and great-grandson Linden, granddaughter Rikki (Brandon) Martell of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin and great-grandson Boden, sister Joyce Mohan of Detroit, as well as numerous nieces and nephews throughout Canada and the USA.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob) Jones in 2010, sister Pat Greavett and parents Louise and Charles Goodhand.
Barb was born on May 5, 1931, in Toronto, Ontario to Charles and Louise Goodhand (nee Thibeault). She spent her early years in Toronto and moved to Pembroke, Ontario at the age of 10 where she finished her schooling. She worked for the Bank of Montreal in Pembroke and at age 16 moved to Deep River, Ontario to continue working for the bank. In Deep River she met Robert (Bob) Jones and in 1952 they were married. Barb and Bob moved their family to Pinawa, Manitoba in 1963, where they finished raising their two children. Barb was well known in the community for her sewing (sewing clothes for herself and daughter), crafting, knitting and baking. She loved curling, golfing, reading and her bridge group. In her later years, she took up bowling. Barb took pride in passing her passions onto her grandchildren spending many summers together with them. She never missed the monthly trip to Winnipeg to attend Rainbow Stage for a picnic with friends. Pinawa meant a great deal to Barb, and she believed strongly in supporting local events and charities. Over the years Barb and Bob enjoyed many worldly travels together, with trips to New Zealand, Italy, Spain and many others.
The family would like to thank The Ironwood Care Home (staff) in Pinawa where she received outstanding care and compassion for many years. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Garg and Mark Bautista, pharmacist, both of Pinawa, as well as, Dr. Graham of Stonewall and the staff at Rosewood Lodge, Stonewall. We are truly grateful to them and her caregivers, thank you.
