Obituary for Antonio Bantiles

Antonio Bantiles

With great sadness, we announce the passing of our loving Tatay (father), grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend Antonio. He passed away peacefully in his home with family by his side on December 3, 2021.

Antonio was predeceased by his wife Josefa Garbo Bantiles; son Emilio, daughter Eliza and grandson Antonio (Opaw).

He is survived by his ten children; Elliot (Norma), Benny (Carmen), Ester, Mario (Felicidad), Rita (Juanito), Clarita, Betty, Ticboy (Epifania), Peter (Gilly), and Susan (Tim); his forty grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as his brothers Meliton and Vitaliano.

Antonio was born in Ormoc City, Leyte, Philippines on January 5, 1922, and came to Canada in 1984.

Tatay was known for always being a happy person, always smiling and laughing especially while watching action movies, boxing, and wrestling. He enjoyed the company of people and even though he spoke very little to no English, he would start a conversation with them. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and most of all, he loved bike riding. He stopped riding his bike in his 90’s.

Tatay you will be truly missed, and we all love you, but we know that Nanay is now enjoying your smile and laughter.

A private funeral service will be held at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel.
