ALICIA (LISA/COOKIE) WURM (NEE KOBLENSKY)
June 9, 1945 - February 25, 2022
After a long and courageous battle with cancer Lisa left to be with the Lord, her beloved husband who passed Nov 13, 2010, all her dogs especially Zeke and all that have gone before her.
Lisa passed on her terms, her way, with her family at her side. She leaves to mourn her children Bunny and Billy (Bowman), FJ and Marcela (Wurm); grandchildren Schuyler, Carisa, Adrian, Andrew, Aleyna; and great grandchild Violet. Estranged son Barry.
She is survived by her beloved sister Bea Burdey, sister-in-law Irene Wurm and nieces and nephews. Lisa had many friends and some very close ones that meant so much. The list is too long to mention, you know who you are and we thank you.
Lisa comes from a long & strong Ukrainian family. Lisa was born and raised in Winnipeg before venturing to Ontario where she spent many years working in several careers and met Frank. They married, raised children and they moved to Manitoba to endeavour in many ventures including farming and driving school bus. Lisa spent many years of service for the St. Laurent Municipality including Secretary-Treasurer and Councillor until she retired. She loved time fishing, camping, trail rides, travelling and being with friends and family. Lisa moved from the farm to the lake and spent many happy years there, before returning to Winnipeg.
Thank you to Palliative Care and the MAID team who made her wishes possible and gave compassion and dignity at the end of this life as she moves on.
In lieu of flowers you may wish to donate to a charity of choice.
As she wished, cremation has taken place and a small Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 10:00 am at MacKenzie Funeral Home in Stonewall. Internment will take place in Kitchener, Ontario at a later date so she may rest with parents.
