Obituary for Albert Charles Fisher

Albert Charles Fisher

After a struggle with Alzheimer’s lasting several years, and then a short illness, Dad passed away peacefully in the Gimli Hospital on May 17, 2023, with family at his side.

Dad was a kind and generous man. He had a big heart and a big laugh. He worked hard as a miner for more than 30 years. He loved to fish and garden. He spent countless hours volunteering with the Snow Lake Elks club, coaching minor hockey teams, helping to organize the Snow Lake mining museum, and helping other organizations in Snow Lake. When he moved to Arborg Dad helped out at the museum and around his church. Dad was always willing to give his time to others.

Dad was loved by many who knew him. He was always positive, willing to talk and laugh, and had a smile for all. He worked hard and taught everyone who spent time with him the value of hard work.

More than anything, dad loved his family. He loved to spend time with his own kids, his grandchildren, our mom and stepmom. There was nothing better than hearing from his siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins. He loved to visit and was constantly checking in on people, loving nothing more than a visit, a story, a laugh, and a hug,

From growing up in the Roblin area, to spending many years living and working in Snow Lake, to settling in Arborg for the last part of his life, Dad brightened hearts wherever he went.

Our great thanks to the staff at the Mary Thoranson assisted living facility in Arborg who went above and beyond caring for Dad during the time when he lived there, and for the staff at the Gimli Hospital who were very good to all of us in Dad’s final days.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Christian Fellowship Church in Arborg.
